SharePoint & Microsoft 365 for law firms
Every matter generates documents: engagement letters, pleadings, correspondence, evidence. When they live across inboxes, desktops and personal OneDrive folders, finding the latest version takes time you can't bill, and confidential files end up where they shouldn't.
I set up Microsoft 365 the way a law practice works: a consistent workspace for every matter, client documents shared securely, and routine admin like opening a matter or approving a letter handled by Power Automate. It's built inside the Microsoft 365 you already pay for, so there's no new system to learn.
Sounds familiar?
Signs you need this
- —Matter documents are spread across email, desktops and personal OneDrive.
- —Every fee earner files things differently, so nobody can find anything when someone is away.
- —Clients have started saying they can't open the links you send.
- —Opening a new matter means a chain of emails and a spreadsheet.
- —You're not sure who can see the confidential files, or what Copilot would surface if you switched it on.
What you get
What I set up for you
A workspace for every matter
The same folder structure and details for every matter (client, matter number, practice area, status), created the same way each time, so anyone can find the signed engagement letter in seconds.
Confidential by design
Permissions by group, restricted areas for sensitive matters and HR, and access tested with an account that shouldn't get in, so only the right people see each file.
Secure client sharing
Client folders and sharing set up for Microsoft's new guest-access rules, so clients keep access to their documents without anyone emailing attachments.
Automated matter intake
A simple intake form (Microsoft Forms or Power Apps) that routes each new matter for approval, then creates its workspace automatically with Power Automate.
Approvals and reminders
Engagement letters, invoices and document sign-offs routed for approval and recorded, plus reminders for the dates you choose.
Ready for Copilot, when you are
Oversharing checked and structure tidied first, so if you switch Copilot on, it only surfaces what each person should see.

Questions
Common questions
Is SharePoint suitable for a law firm, or do we need a dedicated legal document management system?+
For many small and mid-sized firms, SharePoint, which is included in most Microsoft 365 business plans, handles matter documents, permissions and version history well once it's set up properly. Larger firms with very high volumes sometimes use a dedicated legal document management system. On a free call I'll tell you honestly which fits your firm.
Can clients access their documents securely?+
Yes. Each client can be given access to their own folders only, through a guest account in your Microsoft 365, with the sharing settings you choose. I'll also make sure you're ready for Microsoft's 2026 change to how people outside your firm open shared files.
Will our existing files be moved?+
Only when the plan says it's safe. I can restructure existing files one matter or practice area at a time, so nobody's work stops, or set up the new structure for new matters first.
How does pricing work?+
Every project is fixed-price, agreed before any work starts, so there are no surprise invoices. After a free 15-minute call I send a clear quote with what's included and the timeline.
Can you work with us remotely?+
Yes. I'm based in Ibadan, Nigeria and work remotely with businesses worldwide. We meet on video calls and I build directly inside your Microsoft 365.
